League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and AT&T have chosen to work with Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP) in Holland,Michigan as one of only 8 sites around the United States to conduct the ¡Adelante! America with AT&T and LULAC program for 8 - 10 grade students.
“Who is the Program For?” - Students in grades 8 - 10 (students who will be in 8th grade in the Fall of 2009 may apply) are invited to apply. The program is designed for those students who could use the help of a structured program and key relationships in order to develop the motivation and vision to finish high school and pursue further education/training beyond graduation. In the selection process, priority will be given to those who will most benefit from the program. 50 participants will be selected.
"What do Students Do?" - Students meet weekly to learn about leadership and careers. They also engage in service projects and planning of the 2010Hispanic Youth Leadership Conference scheduled for February 16, 2009.
“What Will Students Do?”- At weekly meetings, participants will meet with Hispanic leaders and other from the community who will help them develop leadership skills and an understanding of different careers. Students will also plan a service project and a leadership conference that they will conduct for their peers.
