Youth Development & Leadership Programs
Our Youth Development and Leadership programs build character and leadership in young people, emphasizing the importance of education, creating goals and a vision for their lives, and giving back to their community.
The conference is designed to help Hispanic students identify the gifts they possess and gain inspiration from Hispanic leaders. Students can choose from various educational workshops and explore college and career paths that suit their interests.
These programs are designed for those students who can use the help of a structured program and key relationships in order to develop the motivation and vision to finish high school and pursue further education/training beyond graduation.
Steps To Success
LAUP’s adult programs seek to equip adults with the tools they need to gain better employment and to participate more fully in community life.
LAUP partners with Zeeland/Holland Adult Education to offer five levels of English instruction with daytime and evening course options. Occasional specialized courses train students in vocabulary for specific forms of work.
This class helps prepare you for the General Education Development (GED) exam. The GED exam is for adults who have not received their high school diploma. The certification that you receive upon passing the Michigan GED examination is accepted as an equivalent credential to a high school diploma by employers and colleges across the United States. LAUP offers GED Preparation and tutoring for those who prefer to study in Spanish for the Spanish version of the GED.
These classes provide English and Spanish speakers with basic computer training.
This ten week course prepares participants to apply for citizenship and pass the citizenship exam. The course also includes a Citizenship Application Workshop with an attorney.
